Recovery Services Physical Therapy

The Comeback Is Part of Your Training

Active adults come to us when nagging injuries, overuse, or surgery keeps pulling them from training. We build a hands-on recovery plan around your schedule and your goals.

What Happens When the Root Cause Goes Unaddressed

Overuse Stacks Up Faster Than You Think

Recurring stress on tissue that isn't recovering adds up over training cycles and eventually forces the kind of break you were trying to avoid.

The Same Issue Keeps Coming Back

You back off, feel better, push back in — and the same pain flares at full force because the underlying issue was never actually resolved.

Training Around It Creates New Issues

Every modification to avoid the problem shifts load onto tissue that isn't ready — and creates new compensation patterns over time.

What Patients in Lexington Say

Patients often describe finally getting a clear recovery plan they can actually follow.

As a student I've done hundreds of hours of observation in different physical therapy clinics and realized that the Athlete House was the best option, and the only I'd pay for. I came to David with knee pain and within a few visits I started noticing tremendous results! Every visit I was moving better and stronger. My plan to stay out of pain and to progress my strengthening on my own was made simple and efficient. As a side bonus once my pain was gone I was able to use a visit (with no hassle) to learn more about improving my posture. I highly recommend getting treated here!

I had been having some lower back issues along with tight hamstrings. I was drawn to this place by David's extreme thoroughness of knowing the human body. After just one assessment session, I have already been feeling much better. David has given me tools to stay pain free and enjoy the things I love again. I can't say enough how wonderful this place is. You can also tell they truly care about you and helping you feel better. They find a permanent solution and not just a temporary fix.

Athelete house is worth the hype!! Came in with a hip injury that was nagging for about a year and within 12 weeks Becca had me fixed up! Everyone is SO kind and so helpful, and they provide you with exercises and activities to do to keep your progress going even when you’re not in the studio with them. Cannot recommend them enough! Special shout out to my girl Becca!! You’re a rockstar!!

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about recovery PT, answered.

Can I keep training during recovery physical therapy?

Most of the time, yes. The goal is not to stop training — it is to load the right tissue in the right way while you recover. We build modifications and progressions around your schedule and keep you moving the whole time. Many people continue a version of their training throughout treatment.

What recovery services does The Athlete House offer?

Recovery services at The Athlete House include hands-on care like dry needling, cupping, blood flow restriction therapy, manual therapy, and soft tissue work, combined with exercise progressions and movement assessments tailored to where you are in recovery.

How is this different from standard physical therapy?

We build every plan around your training demands and performance goals, not just getting out of pain. Every session is one-on-one with your PT — no techs, no sharing your time. We address what is actually limiting you, which is often different from what is simply painful.

Do you work with patients recovering from surgery?

Yes. We work with active adults returning from surgeries common in this population — ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, hip labral repair, and others. The plan is built around your post-surgical protocol and your return-to-sport or return-to-training goals.

Where are you located and how do I schedule a visit?

We are inside CrossFit 859 at 780 E Brannon Rd in Nicholasville, just outside SE Lexington. Start with a discovery call to talk through your situation and determine whether recovery services PT is the right starting point.
